Silestone Worktops Questions Answered
Answers to questions we are frequently asked about Silestone worktops
How much do Silestone worktops cost?
The price will vary depending on the m2 and the colour chosen. If you would like a quote, please contact us. If you are a trade professional with a Marble & Granite Designs account, you can login to obtain quotes online.
What is the difference between granite and Silestone?
Whilst both are great materials for use in kitchen worktops, customers choose Silestone because it is more durable and non-porous, so doesn't attract staining. Granite is a 100% natural product and a lot of customers prefer it because no two worktops are the same, whereas Silestone is patterned to a design that is common across multiple slabs.
Is Silestone the same as marble?
Being an engineered quartz material, Silestone worktops are extremely hard-wearing and non-porous, whereas marble is much softer and isn't suitable for use as kitchen worktops - it's better for use in bathroom vanities and tiling projects. Silestone is available in marble-effect colours that simulate the beauty of natural marble, giving you an option for use in the kitchen.
How do I know your Silestone worktops are authentic?
We only supply authentic products and you can tell this by the logo printed on the underside of your new kitchen worktops. We do offer other quartz products but if you order Silestone kitchen worktops from us, you will receive 100% authentic Silestone product, guaranteed.
How can I clean my Silestone kitchen worktops?
General cleaning should be done with the avoidance of chemicals and abrasives. Normal cleaning with soap and warm water will suffice, with a rinse off with clean water afterwards. To keep your Silestone worktops in pristine condition, we recommend you use Silestone Q-Action
from time to time.
Advantages of Silestone Worktops
The advantages of Silestone worktops are numerous. Silestone is a material that requires a low maintenance and has a high resistance to stains and scratches, as well as a low liquid absorption rate. Silestone’s surface offers high stain and scratch resistance. With a very low absorption index and a minimal number of joints, Silestone is perfect for spaces where liquid exists.
Silestone is resistant and continues to be enjoyed over time, going beyond the surface. It is manufactured in more than 100 colours, three textures and various formats, making it highly versatile. Colours range from muted tones that are generally associated with natural stone to vibrant colours that are not found in nature.
Silestone’s colour uniformity and consistency allows for an unlimited number of edge details including but not limited to: bevel, ogee, bullnose and waterfall. It is also malleable enough to be used in large pieces without requiring joints.
